The research area of learning analytics and intelligent support tools is based on psychology, pedagogy, system science, data science and other basic theories. It uses the research methods of system science and data science, as well as modern information technology such as internet and big data, to measure, collect, analysis and report the data of learner and learning situation. It research learner’s mental characteristics of individual, cognitive characteristics and rules, develop situations of intelligent support tools optimal learning and learning happening, realize individual learning and self-adaptive learning. At the same time, it helps education determiner with accuracy management, and helps teacher with teaching design. So far, RCDE has got fruitful achievements in learning analytics cloud platform, distance learners’ learning style, learning strategies, characteristics of professional competence and other aspects. “Online system of learning styles measuring and learning strategies instruction for Chinese adult distance learners”, developed by the center, as well as “Wisdom Line” learning analytics cloud platform, have been used by many distance education institutions to provide specialized supporting and management services for registered students.

Wisdom Line is a learning analytics cloud platform based on big data. By SERI synthetic evaluation system and LIPS dynamic recommend system, it provides synthetic evaluation and intelligent prediction service for online education institutions, help decision makers with accuracy management and scientific decision. At the same time, it provides personalization learning and teaching support.

The system aims to help adult distance learners to overcome learning difficulties and improve the quality of learning. It is the first online platform for learning strategies instruction according to students’ learning styles for Chinese adult distance learners.
